The extent of the study needed to properly assess potential environmental risks at a site is influenced by many factors including previous and current land use of the site and adjoining parcels. The ACS scope of study can range from a preliminary site assessment, commonly called a Phase I ESA (Phase 1), to a Phase II (Phase 2) study which involves actual sampling and testing.

ACS also performs 3rd party contract drilling and sampling with auger drilling and samplers or direct push probe technology. ACS is a licensed contractor General Engineering Class A and licensed State of Arizona Department of Water Resources Well Driller.

PHASE I

An ACS Phase 1 ESA summarizes a site visit and a review of records pertaining to a property and its surrounding area to determine if any additional environmental investigation is warranted. It is used to understand the potential contamination of a site and the liability risks. It does not include any physical collection of samples or testing.

The process can generally be broken down as:

  • Records Review
  • Site Reconnaissance
  • Interviews
  • Reporting

PHASE II

In the case where a Phase I ESA identifies potential hazardous materials contamination on a site a Phase II ESA is used to confirm or eliminate the potential. Phase II includes sampling and laboratory testing to achieve this. The type of testing and the amount of testing is directly related to what was found in Phase I.

OTHER

In addition to the Phase I and II, ACS also performs Subsurface Contamination Investigations, Asbestos Studies, Underground Storage Tank Investigations; Soil Investigations, Environmental Consulting Services; Remediation Studies, and Regulatory Compliance Services.
